This week marks the launch of pro bono week – a chance to celebrate the support and free legal advice that organisations such as SHU Law have been providing to those in need.
This is the 19th pro bono week that has been advocated and supported by the Law Society and the theme this year is “Pro Bono: Through the pandemic and beyond”. Pro bono legal help has never been more important and it’s important to take time and reflect upon just how many law firms, organisations and charity contribute to this valuable sector.
We are in the very fortunate position that as a rights based law firm we are able to provide all of our services on a not for profit basis and seek to position ourselves primarily in offering legal services that others do not. The work we do may not be profitable for other law firms or simply the lack of opportunity to recover costs from opponents does not justify firms taking the risk of having such cases on their books. However, those people still need help and advice to enforce their legal rights and this is where SHU Law steps in.
Throughout the week we will be showcasing the work of our staff and students to demonstrate just how committed we are to providing effective pro bono help and advice. If you would like help or advice about a legal matter then please contact our team on 0114 2256666 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
